Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers say that a different desalinisation technology called Electrodialysis powered by solar panels.



They say that 60% of India is underlain by salt and much of that area is
not served by electricity to have conventional reverse osmosis
desalination  plants.



They say that this new process : Electrodialysis power by solar panels could purify water and provide potable water in abundance.



The research said that a lot of work had to be done to find the suitable
process and electrodialysis was found to be the appropriate method.
